But there is also a version with siege towers and battering ram which is occasionally used for pvp. With a large number of players helping it took only 4 months to build.

Minas Tirith faced the east, and in front of it lay a vast expanse of townlands lush and rich, with hills and promenades descending to deep Anduin. This level extended further to the north. It was called the Pelennor Fields and surrounding it was the Rammas Echor, a long wall built during the time of the Ruling Steward, Denethor, near the end of the Third Age.

The building locations (aside from the citadel) and functions are probably just made up. As for the general shape there's lots of canon descriptions. I don't think there's a canon map for Minas Tirith though, so you can't ever say it's 100% accurate. The general shape of the walls and citadel is accurate to Tolkien's descriptions.
