I paint daily to try and help and maybe show this year I deserved last years win, but I rarely actually enjoy painting now because of the pressure on me to repeat that 1st place win. But it shows that taking your time is always better than rushing. I mean speed painting can be good, but its best to work towards that by taking your time first.

This was done quite simply painting the inside of the mouth white and then adding gradual glazes of Bloodletter and Lamenters Yellow, and then adding more white to the back of the throat. The wings were blended up through Black, Khorne Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet, Wild Rider Red, and Fire Dragon Bright and glazed Bloodletter and Lamenters Yellow.

Thankfully, GW has a contrast paint, Apothecary White, that made my life a lot easier. I primed the model with Vallejo Grey, then basecoated with the contrast paint. Once dry, I used Nuln Oil to tint the top scales a darker grey color, then brought some highlights in with white. I avoided drybrushing because I didn't want the model to look chalky.
